Why did I accidentally activate a silent alert?
What to do in the event you accidentally set off a silent alert within GetHomeSafe
If you accidentally enter your silent PIN instead of your normal access PIN when opening your GetHomeSafe app, you will trigger a silent alert in the background. This is a discreet safety feature designed for situations where you may be under duress and unable to raise an obvious alarm.
When the silent PIN is used, an alert is sent through to your monitoring system, and your supervisors or designated monitoring contacts will be notified that you may need assistance.
From your perspective, the app will appear to open and function as normal. There will be no warning message, sound, or visible indication on the screen that a silent alert has been activated. This is intentional, so that a person causing concern around you is not made aware that an alert has been raised.
If you believe you have triggered a silent alert by mistake, follow your organisation’s agreed process, which may include contacting your supervisor or safety team to confirm that you are safe, so they can stand down any response
If you do not require the use of access or silent PINs, or your organisation chooses not to use them, you can disable PIN protection in your app settings. PIN behaviour and availability may also be controlled by your organisation’s administrator, so if you cannot change these settings, please speak with your supervisor or system administrator.
