How to Start a GetHomeSafe Activity When Using Your ZOLEO Device
Learn how to start a GetHomeSafe activity when using your ZOLEO device, whether you are within mobile coverage or completely off-grid.
Starting Your Activity In Coverage (Recommended)

Open the GetHomeSafe App
Launch the GetHomeSafe mobile app on your phone. -
Enter Activity Details
Fill in your activity information, such as your destination, estimated time, and any relevant notes. -
Start Activity
Tap “Start Activity.” A Pre-start screen will appear. -
Select Your ZOLEO Device
From the “GPS Device” dropdown menu, choose your ZOLEO device. -
Confirm and Begin
Tap Continue to officially begin your activity.
Your ZOLEO device will now be linked and displayed in purple under the reminder time.
Starting Your Activity Out-of-Coverage
Important: Your ZOLEO device must be assigned to you in GetHomeSafe before attempting to start an activity out-of-coverage.
The GetHomeSafe mobile app will not reflect this activity until a sync occurs in coverage.
When you're out of mobile coverage:

Open the ZOLEO App
Ensure your ZOLEO device is turned on and connected via Bluetooth. -
Ensure a Clear View of the Sky
Before sending any commands, make sure your ZOLEO device is in an open area with a clear view of the sky to allow proper satellite communication. -
Use the Appropriate Start Command
Send one of the following messages to reply@gethomesafe.com via the ZOLEO app:-
#start: Starts the quick-start GPS activity type assigned to your organisation.

#start[duration]: Starts a countdown activity with the set duration (in minutes).
Example: #start120 will start a 120-minute countdown activity. -
#start[duration]r: Starts a recurring activity with the set duration (in minutes).
Example: #start120r will start a 120-minute recurring activity. -
#start[duration]h: Starts a time of day activity, ending at a specific time (24-hour format).
Example: #start1845h will start an activity finishing at 6:45 PM.

Once sent, your GetHomeSafe activity will be initiated via satellite. The app will display your activity once you're back in coverage and a sync occurs.
