How to Improve Location Tracking Accuracy in GetHomeSafe

This article explains practical steps to improve the accuracy and reliability of location tracking in the app, including device permission settings, battery optimisation, selecting the location provider, and reducing actions that can degrade system performance.

Troubleshooting checklist (step-by-step)

  1. Confirm Location permission: Settings → Apps → GetHomeSafe → Permissions → Location = Allowed all the time; precise location enabled.
  2. Set Battery Optimisation to High Precision: App → Settings → Advanced Settings → Battery Optimisation → High Precision.
  3. If device offers a Location Provider option, try switching from Fused to GPS.
  4. Monitor behavior: start an activity and observe whether tracking still only occurs while the screen is on.
  5. Reduce manual check-ins and barcode scans during active sessions to prevent platform slowdowns.

How to check Location Permissions:

  • On the phone, open Settings
  • Go to Apps (or Apps & notifications)
  • Select the app (GetHomeSafe)
  • Tap Permissions and set Location to "Allowed all the time"
  • Enable "Use precise location" if present

How to enable High Precision battery optimisation in the app

  • Open the app and go to the Settings tab (bottom left)
  • Scroll to Advanced Settings
  • Tap Battery Optimisation
  • Select "High Precision" Note: High Precision increases GPS accuracy but will use more battery.

Choose the appropriate location provider

  • If available on the device, check the Location Provider setting (e.g., Fused or GPS)
  • Fused provider combines GPS, Wi‑Fi, cellular networks, and sensors to conserve battery
  • If accuracy issues persist, try switching the Location Provider to GPS (device-only) to improve raw GPS accuracy
