Why is my Automatic Map Loading Paused?

Information on why you may be receiving a message saying your automatic map loading is paused.

If you are seeing a message that says "Automatic Map Loading Paused," it means our system has detected an unusually high number of page reloads in a short period of time.

To ensure a smooth and fast experience for everyone on the platform, we have implemented automated safeguards to prevent unnecessary strain on our mapping resources.

Why did I get this message?

Our platform is designed to be highly efficient. The map and all associated data update dynamically via a real-time connection. This means that as soon as new data is available, it pushes to your screen automatically.

Manual or forced reloading is completely unnecessary to see the latest map updates. When a user (or a browser extension) rapidly forces the page to reload, it generates unnecessary API calls that can slow down the system for everyone. To prevent this, we use two types of limits: Soft Limits and Hard Limits.

Understanding the Limits

Depending on the frequency of the page reloads, you will encounter one of two limits.

1. The Soft Limit (Manual Loading Required)

If you reload the page too many times in a short window, you will trigger a Soft Limit.

  • What happens: The map will stop loading automatically.
  • How to resolve: You will see a prompt with a "Load Map" button. Simply click this button to manually authorise the map to load.

2. The Hard Limit (Temporary Cooldown)

If the system detects severe rapid reloading—usually caused by third-party auto-refresher extensions or scripts—you will trigger a Hard Limit to protect our servers from API abuse.

  • What happens: Map access is temporarily suspended.
  • How to resolve: You will see a message stating: "The map will be available again in XX minutes." You must wait for the countdown to finish before the map will load again. Clicking or refreshing during this time will not bypass the limit.

Best Practices & Tips

Did you know? You do not need to refresh your browser to keep your data current. Keep the page open, and our real-time connection will do the work for you.

  • Disable Auto-Refreshers: If you are using an auto-refresher browser extension to keep your session alive, we highly recommend disabling it for this platform.

  • Adjust Extension Settings: If you absolutely must use an auto-refresher for session management, please set the refresh interval to once per hour, which is more than enough to keep your session active without triggering our abuse limits.
